Uba Sani to Adopt Muslim-Christian Ticket for 2027

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani is preparing to shift from a Muslim-Muslim ticket to a Muslim-Christian governorship arrangement ahead of the 2027 elections. He intends to select a Christian candidate from Southern Kaduna as his running mate, aiming to restore the religious balance that has been absent since 2019.

The current Deputy Governor, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, is unable to continue beyond the current administration due to her term limits. Governor Sani has reportedly considered various factors, including zoning, age, gender, political experience, and religion, before deciding on a Muslim-Christian ticket to promote inclusiveness.

A source from the Kaduna State Government House indicated that the governor believes the deputy governorship position should remain in Southern Kaduna while ensuring religious diversity. Consultations for the running mate have advanced, but the governor has kept his choice confidential to avoid political pressure.

Prominent figures under consideration include James Kanyip, Jummai Bako, and Jerry Adams. The Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa, stated that the public will be informed when a formal decision is made.
