Kogi State Sets N150m Fee for Presidential Campaign Signage

The Kogi State Government has approved a fee structure for campaign signage and materials ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, as well as the October 2026 local government elections. Hon.

Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, announced this in Lokoja following a stakeholders’ meeting with the signage and advertising sector. The fees are N150 million for presidential candidates, N50 million for senatorial candidates, N30 million for House of Representatives candidates, and N5 million for State House of Assembly candidates.

For local government elections, chairmanship candidates will pay N2 million, while councillorship candidates will pay N300,000. Fanwo emphasized that these fees are intended to regulate political advertising, ensure compliance with existing regulations, and generate revenue for Kogi State.

He warned that failure to comply with the fee payment and regulations would lead to prosecution, applying equally to all political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KOSSAA) will oversee the enforcement of these regulations.
