INEC Reports Over 103 Million Registered Voters for 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that Nigeria's voter register has surpassed 103 million, with Lagos, Kano, and Kaduna having the highest numbers of registered voters. INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), made this announcement on October 6, 2026, in Abuja during the unveiling of the Commission's 100-day operational plan for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The current voter register stands at 103,428,715, following the completion of three phases of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which added 10,772,421 new registrations. Lagos leads with 7,488,633 voters, followed by Kano with 6,570,276 and Kaduna with 4,662,640.
The voter register will be displayed nationwide from October 9 to 15 for public scrutiny. Additionally, the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards will begin on October 9, with the final register presented to political parties on December 15.
INEC has also acquired 57,000 new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices and plans a nationwide mock accreditation and election simulation.
