Oba Akinyemi Calls for Scrutiny of Ogun Governorship Candidates

Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, called on the media, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and residents to scrutinize candidates for the 2027 governorship election to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun. He emphasized the need for investigation into candidates' backgrounds, credentials, and antecedents, regardless of their political affiliations.

Akinyemi expressed concern over internal disputes within the All Progressives Congress, particularly regarding the governorship primary involving Senator Solomon Adeola and Mr Abayomi Hunye. He warned that the ongoing crisis could embarrass the party and the region, especially following reports that Hunye received zero votes in the primary.

Akinyemi urged the party leadership to resolve the conflict amicably, stressing that the electorate must be involved in the decision-making process for the next governor, as they will bear the consequences of their choices.
