Abiodun Urges Ogun Monarchs to Foster Peace for 2027 Elections

On Tuesday, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun called on traditional rulers in the state to leverage their influence to encourage peaceful and responsible participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This appeal was made during the inauguration of Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, succeeding Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, whose tenure recently ended.

Abiodun emphasized the importance of educating citizens on civic participation and urged the monarchs to discourage violence and division during the electoral process. He described the 2027 elections as a significant democratic transition and highlighted the role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and stability.

Abiodun noted that his administration had worked to combat political thuggery and praised the peaceful conduct of recent party primaries. He acknowledged the support of traditional rulers in enhancing security and community development, underscoring their vital role in local intelligence gathering.
