Abiodun Urges Ogun Monarchs for Peaceful 2027 Elections

On Tuesday, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun called upon traditional rulers in the state to leverage their influence to encourage peaceful and informed participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections. This appeal was made during the inauguration of Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, succeeding Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, whose tenure recently concluded.

Abiodun emphasized the importance of civic education among citizens, urging monarchs to promote non-violence and responsible participation in the electoral process. He described the 2027 elections as a significant democratic transition and highlighted the role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and stability.

The governor noted that his administration had worked to discourage political thuggery and praised the peaceful conduct of recent primary elections. He acknowledged the support of traditional rulers in enhancing security and community development, underscoring their vital role in local intelligence and mobilization efforts.
