NANS Launches Committee for 2027 Student Voter Engagement

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has praised its President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, for forming the NANS National Election Mobilisation, Sensitisation and Monitoring Committee in preparation for the 2027 general elections. In a statement by Coordinator Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, the association congratulated the 18 student leaders nominated from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states.
With 98 days until the elections, the committee aims to structure student electoral participation. Recent voter registration data indicates a significant youth presence, with 36.64% of voters in the August 2026 Osun governorship election being youths and 32.18% students.
NANS emphasized the need for active engagement, voter education, and collaboration with Students’ Union Governments and Joint Campus Committees. The association aims to mobilize at least 10 million students for the elections while clarifying that this does not endorse any political candidates, focusing instead on evaluating candidates based on their educational and youth development plans.
