Migili Group Seeks Deputy Governorship Slot in Nasarawa

The Migili Cultural Development Association, represented by Abu Ishaq, has formally appealed to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule to consider appointing a member of the Migili ethnic group to the deputy governorship position in the upcoming 2027 elections. Ishaq made this appeal during a press conference held in Lafia, the state capital, where he lamented the historical exclusion of the Migili people from key political positions since the return to democracy in 1999.

He highlighted that despite their substantial voting strength, estimated at 50,000 votes across five local government areas in the Nasarawa South senatorial district, the Migili have not been granted opportunities for significant political representation. The association is lobbying traditional rulers and other stakeholders to support their campaign for the deputy governorship slot, emphasizing that such an appointment would galvanize votes for the APC and ensure a landslide victory in the 2027 general elections.
