NDC Accuses INEC of Uploading Unauthorized Candidates

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of illegally replacing some of its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. The NDC alleged that INEC uploaded ten unauthorized names in various constituencies in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The statement, issued by NDC National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, claimed these names were unknown to the party and not submitted by them. Zuwoghe condemned INEC's actions and called for an immediate investigation into how these names appeared on the candidates’ portal.

He urged the investigation to extend to other states like Benue and Imo, where similar issues were observed. Zuwoghe stated that preliminary findings suggested some INEC officials were involved in this matter.

He explained that after the party's primaries, a final list of candidates was submitted to INEC, but some names were marked as “pending.” He alleged that INEC collected Form EC-9 directly from disputed candidates, bypassing the party, which he argued was contrary to the Electoral Act and INEC’s guidelines.
