Agboola Advocates for Sustainable Governance in Oyo

Segun Agboola, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo, called for a fundamental shift in Nigeria’s governance approach during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized the need for leaders who can establish enduring systems instead of focusing on short-term projects.

Agboola described his decision to run for governor as a “divine call” to contribute to societal development. He criticized the current political landscape, advocating for a social contract that requires responsible citizens to bridge the past and future.

Agboola highlighted the importance of preparing young Nigerians for jobs in a rapidly changing global economy influenced by technology and artificial intelligence. He stated that education reform would be a priority if elected, arguing that the current system primarily prepares youth for traditional employment.

Agboola also criticized short-term governance approaches, advocating for a shift towards creating sustainable institutions that outlast individual administrations.
