ADC's Igbawua Denies Preference for Atiku in Elections

Chill Igbawua, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserted that no individual who has joined the ADC has received preferential treatment over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the context of the forthcoming general elections. Igbawua made this statement during an interview on Monday, responding to reports regarding the opposition coalition's dynamics.

He highlighted the recent defection of former presidential candidate Rabi'u Kwankwaso to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and the implications for the ADC's presidential ticket. Igbawua emphasized that the ADC and NDC's potential split could divide the opposition vote, ultimately benefiting the ruling party in the 2027 elections.

He described the current developments as a blessing in disguise, arguing that a united opposition front is essential to face legal and political challenges that could hinder their participation in the elections. The ADC and NDC are expected to contest the elections, but the division may favor Bola Tinubu at the presidential level.
