ADC Chieftain Denies Atiku's Special Status in Party

Chill Igbawua, a member of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissed allegations that the party serves as a special vehicle for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's presidential campaign. In an interview, Igbawua stated that such claims are untrue and emphasized that ADC has not given preferential treatment to Abubakar, who is expected to contest for the presidency again.

He noted that if someone else wins the party's nomination, ADC would support that candidate. Igbawua's comments come amid a backdrop of political defections, including notable figures like Peter Obi from the Labour Party and Rabiu Kwankwaso from the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

He expressed surprise at reports of defections and clarified that ADC's presidential candidate selection process would be transparent and open. Igbawua also mentioned that the party is aware of external challenges but is committed to overcoming them.
