Peter Obi Advocates for Northern Economic Transformation

In an interview with Aris TV, Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, articulated his vision for the North as Nigeria's greatest economic asset in his 2027 presidential campaign. He criticized the prevailing notion that the North is a burden on the nation's economy, asserting that it holds significant agricultural and oil potential.

Obi emphasized the need for investment in agriculture to reduce poverty and improve education and healthcare access in the region. He addressed the importance of security, stating that development cannot be achieved without first ensuring safety, particularly in the North.

Obi also highlighted the necessity of unity beyond ethnic and religious divisions, advocating for a leadership that prioritizes collective progress. He welcomed collaboration with regional politicians like Nasir El-Rufai and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso but rejected the idea that a few individuals could determine the region's outcomes.
