Obi Launches Campaign for 2027 Presidential Elections

Peter Obi officially launched his campaign for the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 16, 2027, during a news conference in Onitsha, Anambra State, on Friday. He addressed the serious challenges facing Nigeria, including youth unemployment, weak infrastructure, insecurity, and high business costs.

Obi expressed his belief that Nigeria can work effectively and stated his qualifications, citing his private-sector experience, education in policy and business, and his tenure as governor of Anambra State. He introduced his running mate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, highlighting his complementary experience in education and infrastructure development from his time as governor of Kano State.

Obi called on Nigerians to critically assess candidates' records and proposals, emphasizing the importance of respectful debate and the need for a business-friendly environment. He promised that an Obi-Kwankwaso administration would focus on agricultural productivity, manufacturing, and responsible public finance management.
