Peter Obi's Media Office Defends His Presidential Readiness

The Peter Obi Media Office has stated that Peter Obi, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election, is ready for the presidency, contradicting claims from the presidency that he is overhyped. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, suggested that Obi's supporters expect him to perform miracles at the national level despite his alleged lack of governance experience.

In response, Idris Zekeri from Obi's Media Office emphasized Obi's tenure as Anambra State governor from 2006 to 2014, during which he won re-election in 2010 and was recognized as the best-performing state governor. The Media Office highlighted Obi's fiscal discipline, noting that Anambra became one of the least-indebted states under his leadership, accumulating around $500 million in investments and savings.

His administration also improved educational performance and healthcare investments, establishing partnerships with international organizations and securing accreditation for health institutions.
