OK Movement Rejects NDC Merge Ahead of 2027 Elections

On September 23, 2026, the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, known as the OK Movement, affirmed its decision not to surrender its organizational structure to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in preparation for the 2027 elections. John Ughulu, the Director-General of the OK Movement, responded to remarks made by NDC National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson, who suggested that support groups should complement political parties rather than compete with them.

Dickson criticized the establishment of a presidential campaign council by the OK Movement as “unheard of” and “nonsensical.” Ughulu countered that the OK Movement is an independent political organization, distinct from conventional support groups, and comprises members from various political parties who support the NDC's presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. He emphasized that the movement would continue to mobilize support without merging with the NDC.
