PDP Chairmen Urge Jonathan to Clarify Presidential Bid

On Monday, the chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the thirty-six states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to directly address Nigerians and disassociate himself from the ongoing use of his name by a faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki. This faction recently awarded its presidential ticket to Jonathan, prompting concerns from the PDP leadership about the misuse of his name, which they described as a "spectacle of macabre dance." Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, speaking on behalf of the chairmen, stated that Jonathan's silence could damage both the party and his legacy of peace.

The PDP rejected the faction's actions, including an alleged illegal submission of Jonathan's name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and demanded that authorities investigate the matter. The party characterized the faction's actions as identity theft and a breach of peace, urging law enforcement to take immediate action against them.
