PDP Chairmen Urge Jonathan to Distance from Rival Faction

The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to publicly dissociate himself from a rival group involved in the party's leadership crisis. During a press conference on Monday in Abuja, Chairman Austin Nwachukwu, representing 36 state chairmen and the FCT chairman, stated that Jonathan's name should not be used to promote illegal activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

The forum accused the rival group, led by former Minister of Special Duties Tanimu Turaki (SAN), of forgery, impersonation, and distorting court judgments related to the party's leadership dispute. They asserted that the legitimate leadership of the PDP is the National Working Committee, headed by National Chairman Abdulraham Mohammed and National Secretary Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.

The chairmen urged security agencies to investigate the rival group's actions and warned that Jonathan's silence could be seen as support for the faction, potentially damaging his reputation as an elder statesman.
