PDP, NDC, APM Nominate Jonathan, Obi, Makinde for 2027

On a significant day for Nigerian politics, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), led by Tanimu Turaki, held a special national convention in Abuja where they formally declared former President Goodluck Jonathan as their presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. Alongside him, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde were also affirmed as candidates by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and Allied People's Movement (APM), respectively.

The event faced challenges as security operatives sealed off the venue, preventing some members from entering. Despite Jonathan's absence, the nomination was ratified through a motion moved by the chairman of the PDP state chairmen forum, Toni Aziegbemi, and seconded by former Minister Moham Sanusi Dagash.

The convention emphasized the need for unity and reform to address Nigeria's pressing issues, including insecurity and poverty, with Obi pledging to enhance security through technology and improve coordination among agencies.
