Umahi Urges South-East Voters to Prioritize Elections

Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, emphasized the importance of civic engagement among the South-East populace. In a video shared on social media, he cautioned voters against playing football on election day, stating that such distractions could lead to complaints about poor leadership afterward.

Umahi stated, “Let it not be during voting you are playing football. Then tomorrow you start to come and complain.

It is not acceptable.” He encouraged the South-East residents to show appreciation for President Bola Tinubu by voting for him, asserting that despite criticisms, Tinubu would be re-elected. Umahi reflected on his past experiences in governance, noting that the South-East had historically received less than five percent of the federal budget, and urged voters to recognize the ongoing infrastructure improvements.

He concluded by asserting that insults directed at the president would not hinder his electoral success.
