Presidency Denies ADC's Claims on Tinubu's Candidacy

The presidency has responded to allegations made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that there is a plot to position Bola Tinubu as the sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. In a statement, the presidency described these claims as baseless and an attempt to create confusion within the ADC, which could weaken its viability as an opposition platform.

The ADC's national chairman, Nafiu Bala Gomb, vowed to resist any means necessary to defend democracy, asserting that there is no legal basis for disputing the party's leadership. The ADC's claims suggest that the alleged plot is aimed at pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Tinubu as the sole presidential contender.

Bayo Onanuga, a special adviser to the president, emphasized that the issues raised by the ADC are purely internal matters for the party to resolve, and he reiterated that the presidency's focus remains on governance.
