Tinubu's Campaign Strategies Ahead of 2027 Election

With the 2027 presidential election approaching in Nigeria, leading candidates are adopting unconventional campaign strategies. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, through the Ministry of Education and the Nigerian Communications Commission, announced a scheme to provide millions of secondary and tertiary students with 100 megabytes of free daily data starting 1 October.

This initiative is framed as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to enhance educational access. However, critics note the timing coincides with intensified campaign efforts, especially given past issues with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

Concurrently, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has been actively disbursing cash through her Renewed Hope Initiative, totaling over N15 billion from July 2023 to July 2026, and an additional N25 billion raised in 2025 for education. In September, she distributed N250 million and empowerment items in Imo and Anambra States, furthering her campaign strategy to secure political loyalty in the South-East region.
