APC Prepares for 2027 Election Campaign Launch

The campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria officially began on Wednesday, in accordance with the electoral calendar released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while governorship and House of Assembly elections will occur on February 6, 2027.

The APC is currently preparing its campaign structure, awaiting directives from its leader and presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. A meeting of the APC National Working Committee was held on Monday, where discussions included potential candidates for the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and former Zamfara State Governor Abdul-‘aziz Yari.

Additionally, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is also being considered for a prominent role. APC spokesperson Felix Morka stated that a comprehensive campaign program would be unveiled after consultations with stakeholders, emphasizing that no party is permitted to start campaigning before the official date set by INEC.
