SDP, Accord, AAC Candidates Form Alliance for 2027

During a meeting in Port Harcourt, three presidential candidates—Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim of the Accord Party, Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC), and Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)—resolved to form an alliance for the 2027 elections. They emphasized that this alliance is not merely an anti-incumbency move but aims to create a credible governing alternative based on democratic accountability, economic justice, security, and social inclusion.

The candidates expressed concerns about the concentration of political power and the weakening of democratic institutions in Nigeria, warning against a shift from competitive democracy to a "coronation disguised as an election." They plan to consult with other political entities and groups to mobilize support across various demographics. Additionally, they called for an end to the alleged persecution of Omoyele Sowore and urged the international community to monitor Nigeria's democratic processes.

The Movement for Democratic Renewal (MDR) was also launched, advocating for unity to rescue the country.
