Opposition Parties Unite for 2027 Elections Against APC

On Monday, leaders from six major opposition political parties in Nigeria convened at the G100 First Summit in Abuja, themed ‘A national covenant for democratic renewal’. The parties involved are the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

They unanimously resolved to form a structured alliance to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Key figures at the summit included ADC National Vice Chairman Usani Usani, PDP Board of Trustees Secretary Dr. Babangida Aliyu, and PRP Presidential Candidate Dr. Donald Duke, among others.

A communique issued by Hon. Victor Ogene outlined the establishment of three standing coalition organs and five Working Groups tasked with preparing a National Covenant for Democratic Renewal and a roadmap for a common presidential candidate. The leaders expressed concerns over Nigeria's security, economic challenges, and the need for political cooperation beyond individual party interests.
