SDP Confident of INEC Clean Bill Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), under the leadership of Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gomb, expressed confidence in obtaining a clean bill of health from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after a verification process. This statement was made during a press briefing at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.

Dr. Gomb disclosed that the verification exercise involved collaboration with INEC and included the presence of members from the national executive committee and state chairmen from all 36 states. An eleven-member team from INEC conducted the verification at the SDP headquarters.

The verification is a requirement for political parties, necessitating the presence of members from at least two-thirds of the states in the federation. Dr. Gomb noted the Supreme Court's previous judgments regarding internal party disputes and emphasized the importance of this verification for the party's leadership and future electoral participation.
