SDP and IPAC Discuss Electoral Reforms with Tinubu

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss the strengthening of Nigeria's democratic process in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This meeting, which followed an iftar dinner hosted by the President, was attended by opposition party leaders, including SDP's former presidential candidate Adewol Adebayo and SDP's national chairman Prof.

Sadiq Gomb. Gomb highlighted the need for transparent, free, and fair elections, stressing that the government must listen to the people.

Concerns were raised regarding voter apathy, as evidenced by a recent election in the Federal Capital Territory where only 7% of voters participated. IPAC chairman Dr.

Yusuf Dantal urged for necessary electoral reforms, including the mandatory electronic transmission of results. The meeting concluded with a call for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to adhere strictly to electoral guidelines to ensure credibility in the upcoming elections.
