Akume and Alia Reconcile in Benue Ahead of 2027 Elections

On a Sunday meeting held at the government house in Makurdi, Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Governor Hyacinth Alia reconciled after a three-year feud. This meeting aimed to heal divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State and chart a new path forward for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Senator Akume emphasized the importance of inclusivity and unity, stating that everyone should have a place within the party. Governor Alia expressed regret over the crisis that had affected the party's cohesion and highlighted the need for collaboration to deliver essential services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure to the people of Benue State.

The meeting concluded with a resolution to operate under a unified APC in Benue State and to agree on consensus candidates for future elections, marking a significant step towards restoring harmony and partnership within the party.
