NYSC DG Warns Corps Members Against Partisan Politics

On Tuesday, during a town hall meeting with the 2026 Batch B Stream corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State, Brig Gen Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), cautioned corps members against participating in partisan politics as the country approaches the 2027 general elections. He stressed the importance of the NYSC's political neutrality, warning that any actions that could portray the scheme as aligned with political parties would be detrimental to its credibility.

Nafiu advised corps members to avoid wearing NYSC uniforms at political gatherings and to focus on being agents of positive change rather than critics of the system. He also encouraged them to embrace hard work, cultivate meaningful relationships, and reduce excessive use of social media.

Chinwe Nwachukwu, the Gombe State NYSC Coordinator, reported that 1,349 corps members, comprising 649 males and 700 females, were registered for the orientation exercise.
