Terrorism as Political Strategy Ahead of 2027 Elections

Sey Oladejo, the former spokesman for the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed concerns regarding the rising trend of terrorism being utilized as a political strategy in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. He noted a troubling pattern of renewed terrorist activities and coordinated attacks across various parts of Nigeria, which are seen as attempts to instill fear and uncertainty among the populace.

Oladejo emphasized that this development should not be dismissed as mere coincidence, as it reflects a historical pattern where political interests exploit instability. He pointed out that the Nigerian people, particularly farmers, traders, and young graduates, are suffering due to this climate of fear and instability, which undermines public confidence and weakens national institutions.

The statement underscores the urgent need for security agencies to address these challenges effectively, despite their recorded successes against criminal elements.
