Key Players Emerge for 2027 Presidential Campaigns

As the official commencement of presidential campaigns for the 2027 general election approaches on August 19, political parties in Nigeria are intensifying consultations regarding their campaign organizations. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is considering former Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to lead President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has identified former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, as the leading candidate to direct former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential bid. Other parties, including the Labour Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Social Democratic Party, and Nigeria Democratic Congress, are also finalizing their campaign structures.

The role of campaign Director-General is crucial, as it involves coordinating logistics, mobilizing nationwide support, managing stakeholder relationships, overseeing fundraising, and ensuring effective communication of the candidate’s manifesto. The choice of campaign managers is expected to significantly influence the electoral contest as parties seek to strengthen their positions against the APC.
