Atiku Considers Tambuwal for 2027 Campaign Leadership

As political parties prepare for the 2027 presidential election, consultations regarding campaign leadership are intensifying. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is reportedly leaning towards Aminu Tambuwal, the former Governor of Sokoto State, as the Director-General of his campaign.

This decision is crucial as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set August 19 as the start date for official presidential campaigns. Tambuwal's close political ties with Atiku and his experience managing Atiku's 2023 campaign are significant factors in his consideration.

If appointed, Tambuwal would collaborate with Atiku's running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, in coordinating campaign activities nationwide. Despite Tambuwal being a frontrunner, ADC officials state that consultations are ongoing, and no final decision has been made.

Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is evaluating candidates for its campaign leadership, with Tanko Al-Makura and Hope Uzodimma as leading contenders for the role of Director-General for Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima's campaign.
