Tinubu, Olubadan Not Endorsing Candidates for 2027

Bayo Adelabu, the APC gubernatorial aspirant for Oyo State, addressed the media on Thursday, clarifying that neither President Bola Tinubu nor the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, is endorsing any candidate for the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial elections. He described reports suggesting that the duo is backing a preferred aspirant as false and urged party members to disregard such rumors.

Adelabu emphasized that President Tinubu has not endorsed any consensus candidate for the gubernatorial contest, stating that the process remains open for all interested individuals. He mentioned that the party will either reach a consensus or conduct direct primaries, depending on the stakeholders' discussions.

Furthermore, Adelabu dismissed claims of the Olubadan endorsing a candidate, asserting that the Olubadan's status transcends political affiliations. He recently resigned from his ministerial position in the power sector to pursue his gubernatorial ambitions, promising an inclusive administration focused on benefiting the general populace, particularly the poor, women, youth, and indigenous residents of Oyo State.
