POMR Urges Tinubu to Engage Nigerians Ahead of 2027

The Peter Obi Media Office (POMR) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to personally engage with Nigerians as the 2027 presidential election approaches. In a statement signed by spokesman Idris Zekeri Jnr on Tuesday, POMR criticized Tinubu for allegedly planning to seek re-election without adequately meeting the electorate, suggesting he intends to rely on political surrogates instead.

The organization stressed that presidential candidates must have the courage to face the public, answer questions, and defend their records. POMR condemned Tinubu's absence from the National Peace Accord event led by General Abdulsalami Abubakar, labeling it disrespectful to stakeholders promoting peaceful elections.

They extended their demand for direct engagement to major national platforms, including the Nigerian Bar Association conference. POMR asserted that the president should explain his administration's performance since taking office in 2023 if he believes it warrants another term, emphasizing that accountability must be directly to the people.
