Obi Camp Critiques Tinubu's Absence from Key Events

The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) has publicly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his perceived reliance on “surrogates” for political engagements as the January 16, 2027 presidential election approaches. In a statement signed by Idris Zekeri Jnr, POMR accused President Tinubu of avoiding direct engagement with voters while positioning himself for a second term.

The statement highlighted his absence from significant national events, including the signing of the National Peace Accord by the National Peace Committee, led by General Abdulsalami Abubakar and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, as well as the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) annual conference. POMR asserted that a President seeking re-election must directly address the electorate regarding the state of the economy and policy outcomes since 2023.

They emphasized that the upcoming election should focus on competence and direct debate rather than proxy campaigns, stating, “If President Tinubu wants a second term, let him come to the people.”.
