Atiku Abubakar Alleges Plot Against ADC for 2027 Elections

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has raised concerns about a new plot to block the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from participating in the 2027 general elections. He warns that this attempt to exclude opposition parties constitutes a serious threat to Nigeria's democracy.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku claims to have received credible information about political and legal maneuvers aimed at keeping the ADC off the ballot. He describes this as part of a broader campaign to weaken opposition and deny Nigerians the opportunity to freely choose their next president.

Atiku emphasizes the need for the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission to resist political pressure and maintain neutrality. He argues that the ADC's growing popularity represents a legitimate democratic choice and that any attempt to suppress it undermines the electoral process.

The statement comes amid heightened political realignments as former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi adopts the ADC platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress.
