Atiku Abubakar Warns Against Threats to ADC's Participation

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, raised alarms regarding threats to democracy, particularly concerning the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as it prepares for the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Frank Shaibu, Abubakar highlighted credible information indicating a coordinated effort to keep the ADC off the ballot.

He condemned attempts by elements within the ruling party to manipulate the electoral process, asserting that such actions represent a grave assault on Nigeria's constitutional democracy. Abubakar emphasized that the sovereignty of the vote belongs to the people and warned against any intimidation or sabotage aimed at suppressing the ADC's participation.

He called on Nigerians, not just ADC members, to defend democracy and reject any attempts by the ruling party to selectively permit opposition participation. Abubakar urged the judiciary and electoral bodies to remain impartial and resist external pressures that could undermine the electoral process.
