Jingir Backs Muslim-Muslim Ticket Ahead of 2027 Elections

Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, an Islamic scholar, expressed his support for the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election, attributing his stance to the developments achieved under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. Speaking at the Northern Muslims Intellectuals Forum in Jigawa State, Jingir addressed the backlash he received following comments made during a visit to Kano, where he noted the need for Islamic scholars to intensify their explanations regarding the ticket.

He clarified that his support was not meant to incite insults or false accusations. Jingir highlighted that his favorable view of the Tinubu administration was based on its performance rather than personal gain, contrasting it with previous administrations that allegedly subjected Muslims to harassment.

He stated, “But look at the situation now. We may not say everything, but for me, this government has performed very well.” His remarks followed widespread condemnation from critics who perceived his earlier comments as disparaging towards non-Muslims.
