Atiku Abubakar Responds to Babachir Lawal's Allegations

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, addressed allegations made by Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, during a recent television interview. Lawal accused Abubakar of misconduct in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries but did not present any evidence to substantiate his claims.

Atiku's spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, criticized Lawal's allegations as unfounded and described them as a "cocktail of bitter conjecture." Shaibu noted that Lawal spent nearly an hour making serious accusations without providing any documentation, witness statements, or verifiable evidence. He emphasized that Lawal's assertions were implausible, suggesting that it was absurd to believe that thousands of ADC members would abandon their judgment in favor of a supposed conspiracy.

Shaibu also pointed out Lawal's contradictory statements regarding Atiku's political relevance, asserting that the former Vice President has a significant record in Nigeria's telecommunications and economic reform sectors.
