Tinubu Advocates Fairness as APC Primaries Commence

Bola Tinubu, President of Nigeria, has called for fairness as the All Progressives Congress (APC) begins its primaries today, aimed at electing candidates for the 2027 general elections. In a statement released yesterday, Tinubu advised the APC leadership, including governors, to ensure a fair and just process for all aspirants.

He emphasized that the primaries should be conducted without hindrance and that there should be no agreement on a consensus candidate, allowing for direct primaries. Tinubu highlighted the need for special consideration for women and youth, stating that the APC cannot afford to marginalize these significant demographics.

He urged the police and security agencies to maintain professionalism and ensure peace during the primaries. The primaries will culminate in the presidential primaries scheduled for May 25, 2026.

Tinubu reminded party members of the importance of sportsmanship, urging winners not to gloat and losers to accept outcomes gracefully, reinforcing the need for unity within the party.
