Tinubu Advises Adelabu on Oyo Governorship Ambitions

Bayo Adelabu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed that he had a private discussion with President Bola Tinubu regarding his ambitions for the Oyo governorship. During a stakeholders' meeting in Ibadan, Adelabu stated that Tinubu encouraged him to pursue his governorship ambitions and advised APC leaders to explore consensus arrangements rather than impose a candidate.

He emphasized that there was no endorsement from Tinubu for any candidate in the Oyo race, countering claims made by Ayo Adeseun, a former senator, who suggested that Tinubu's influence would shape the choice of candidates. Adelabu clarified that the president did not endorse anyone and cautioned against attributing decisions to Tinubu.

He also noted that if consensus fails, direct primaries would be considered, but he remains committed to his ambitions regardless of the outcome.
