Concerns Raised Over Potential 2027 Elections in Nigeria

Abdullahi, the spokesman for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), raised significant concerns regarding the potential for the 2027 elections in Nigeria not to take place. He attributed this fear to several endemic factors affecting the country, including insecurity and hunger, which may create a situation where elections cannot be held in parts of the country.

Abdullahi highlighted that the current administration under President Bola Tinubu has contributed to a climate where citizens may be disinclined to exercise their franchise. He noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not received adequate funding, which threatens its ability to conduct elections.

Abdullahi expressed worries that INEC may not be ready for the elections, suggesting that if the elections were rigged, politicians would resort to legal battles, leaving them dissatisfied thereafter.
