Askira Backs Ndume for APC Ticket in Southern Borno

Abdullahi Askira, the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, publicly explained his decision to step down from the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Southern Borno senatorial district ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement made on Wednesday, with assistance from Bilyaminu Umar Nguld, Askira noted that his withdrawal was influenced by several appeals from APC stakeholders in Borno South.

He formally notified the party of his decision, emphasizing the importance of party loyalty and unity. Askira's withdrawal is intended to support the incumbent Senator Ali Ndume, who is seeking re-election for a fifth term in the Senate.

He called for collective support across the Southern Borno senatorial district to ensure Ndume's success in the upcoming elections, highlighting a commitment to peace and development in the region.
