Gambari Declares Intent to Run for Kwara Governor in 2027

Omar Bolaji Gambari, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship elections during a press briefing in Ilorin on Monday. He unveiled his campaign blueprint, which he termed the "Omari Agenda," built on five pillars aimed at ensuring inclusive governance and addressing the needs of citizens.

The first pillar emphasizes the importance of people-centered policies, providing fair access to healthcare, education, housing, and employment opportunities. Gambari highlighted the need to tackle the root causes of crime, poverty, and social exclusion, ensuring safety and security for all residents.

He also stressed economic growth and shared prosperity, pledging to invest in education and empower youth through job creation and agricultural development. Gambari acknowledged the marginalization of certain regions, particularly Kwara North, and proposed the creation of a development commission to address these concerns.

His political career spans various roles, including businessman, lawyer, and farmer, with previous experience in the military.
