Wike Predicts Kingibe Won't Win Senate Re-Election in 2027

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stated during a media interaction in Abuja that Ireti Kingibe, the current senator representing the FCT, will not be re-elected in 2027. Wike criticized Kingibe for her inability to execute tangible projects and deliver visible benefits to the residents of the nation's capital.

He highlighted her significant absence in satellite communities, claiming she failed to engage with real voters in these areas. Wike's remarks come amid heightened political tensions, as he accused Kingibe of neglecting several communities, which has exacerbated insecurity and social challenges, including persistent water shortages.

He also noted that Kingibe was elected in 2023 on the Labour Party platform. Wike's comments were made in light of recent criticisms from opposition parties regarding the senator's commitment to the welfare of her constituents.

He dismissed claims that his presence at polling units influenced election outcomes, asserting that the people's votes would determine the results.
