Ireti Kingibe Critiques Wike's Movement Restrictions in FCT

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), expressed her reservations regarding the movement restriction imposed by Governor Nyesom Wike in preparation for the area council elections scheduled for Saturday. Wike's order, which restricts movement from 8 PM on Friday until 6 AM on Saturday, was declared a work-free day to allow residents to prepare for the elections.

However, during an interview on Arise Television, Kingibe argued that the curfew unnecessarily limits the freedom of FCT residents in a democratic society. She emphasized that the rationale behind the restriction is not clear to the people, who are already prepared for the elections.

Kingibe's comments highlight concerns regarding the balance between security measures and the rights of citizens during the electoral process.
