Duke Warns Opposition Must Unite to Challenge Tinubu

Donald Duke, the former Governor of Cross River State and current presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), expressed concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu's waning popularity since the 2023 elections. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Duke noted that the economic hardships faced by Nigerians under Tinubu's governance have led to widespread disillusionment.

He stated that Tinubu no longer has the same level of sympathy from the public as he did during the last election. Duke emphasized that despite Tinubu's political prowess, he is weak in governance, which has exacerbated the struggles of the populace.

He warned that if opposition parties do not unite, they risk losing to Tinubu in the 2027 elections, potentially allowing him to remain in power as a minority president. Duke expressed his willingness to step down for a consensus candidate among the opposition to challenge Tinubu effectively, stressing the importance of unity to avoid repeating past electoral failures.
