EFCC Recovers N1.23trn and $684m in Three Years

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), under the leadership of Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede, announced the recovery of N1.233 trillion, $684.48 million, £373,905.78, and €9.34 million from October 2023 to June 2026. This achievement was attributed to the dedication of the EFCC team in combating economic and financial crimes.

Olukoyede outlined a three-pronged agenda aimed at enhancing Nigeria's economic growth and adherence to the rule of law. Of the total naira recoveries, approximately N397.26 billion (33%) was for the federal government, while N836.34 billion (67%) was for other beneficiaries, including ministries, departments, agencies, and individuals.

The EFCC released N661.32 billion and $492.37 million to various beneficiaries during this period. Federal and state tax recoveries totaled about N288.1 billion.

Olukoyede stated that asset recovery is meaningful when it returns value to the public interest and rightful beneficiaries.
