Wike Foresees Larger Coalition for Tinubu in 2027

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated that the political realignment leading to the 2027 general elections would result in a larger coalition supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking in Abuja during a project inspection, Wike referenced Osun state governor-elect Ademola Adeleke's recent visit to Tinubu as a sign of this emerging "larger rainbow coalition." He dismissed the notion of a defined opposition in the current political landscape, asserting that there is no leading opposition party due to the internal crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike noted that despite Adeleke's affiliation with the Accord Party, he remains a member of the PDP and is now supporting Tinubu. Wike predicted further political developments in the coming weeks, suggesting that more politicians would align with Tinubu.

He also rejected claims from members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding their role in Adeleke's electoral victory, emphasizing that Adeleke's support for Tinubu strengthens the president's position ahead of the 2027 elections.
