YPP Names Peter Agada as 2027 Presidential Candidate

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has officially substituted Anita Zugwai-Chukwu with Peter Agada as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. Agada was presented alongside his running mate, Ndidi Patience Key, during the party’s Presidential and Vice-Presidential Substitution/Affirmation Programme.

Zugwai-Chukwu previously served as the presidential placeholder after emerging as the party’s candidate at its congress. At the event, YPP National Chairman Comrade Emmanuel Amakiri, represented by Deputy National Chairperson Nana Aisha Mahmoud, described the substitution as a new chapter for the party.

Mahmoud emphasized the need for unity among party members and commended Zugwai-Chukwu for her contributions. Agada, in his acceptance speech, focused on addressing pressing issues such as poverty, insecurity, and unemployment, stating that his candidacy is about the 140 million Nigerians living at or below the poverty line.

He expressed confidence in the YPP as a platform prioritizing competence and results.
